What Merge PDF Can Do

  • Zero Upload Wait Times

Merges up to 50 files of up to 100 MB each in your browser, using local memory and CPU.

  • Page-Level Reordering

Drag-and-drop grid allows reordering, rotating (90°/180°/270°), and deleting individual pages.

  • Custom Bookmark Outlines

Automatically builds a structured, clickable table-of-contents outline from merged files.

  • Mixed Media Support

Seamlessly combine JPG, PNG, and WebP images alongside PDF documents into one PDF.

  • JPG to PDF Conversion

Drop in photos with no PDF at all and each JPG, PNG, or WebP becomes a page in a new PDF document.

  • Metadata Stripping

Clears the title, author, subject, keywords, producer and both timestamps from the merged file.

  • Lossless By Default

Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so text stays text, fonts and vectors stay intact and images keep their quality. Only a target file size makes it re-render them, and it warns you when it does.

Tools & Settings Reference

Page Range Filter (e.g. 1-4, 7)
On the Files tab this applies to each document's own page numbers. On the Page Grid it applies to positions in the grid instead, which the panel points out when both are active.
Rotate Page Buttons (90°, 180°, 270°)
Fix individual page orientations before combining. Rotations set here survive a merge from either tab.
Inject Bookmark Outlines
Creates a flat navigation list with one entry per source file, pointing at that file's first page. Bookmarks that already exist inside the source documents are not carried over.
Blank Page Insertion
Insert blank pages at the start, at the end, or between files. A blank at the very start takes the size of the page after it, and any other blank takes the size of the page before it. Blanks placed by hand in the Page Grid are kept whichever tab you merge from.
Page Size for Images (Match / A4 / US Letter / Original)
Sets the PDF page each photo is placed on. Match copies the size of the document it joins, or falls back to A4 when there is no other page.
Image Orientation (Follow the Image / Portrait / Landscape)
Follow the Image picks portrait or landscape per photo automatically, so a mix of phone shots does not end up rotated.
Margin Around the Image (None / 6 mm / 13 mm)
Adds white space between the photo and the page edge, useful when the PDF will be printed or bound.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. PDFixel preserves individual page `/MediaBox` and `/CropBox` dimensions independently. A4 sheets, US Letter pages, and custom engineering blueprints retain their exact native dimensions within the merged file.

Bookmarks already inside your source PDFs are not carried across — the merged file gets a fresh outline instead, with one entry per source document pointing at its first page, which you can switch off under Metadata. Links between pages of the same source file keep working and point at the copies in the merged file. A link to a page you left out is removed.

Yes. Most JPEGs are embedded exactly as they are, with no re-encoding and no quality loss. The exceptions are CMYK JPEGs, rare JPEG types and JPEGs with an EXIF rotation tag, which phone photos often carry. Those are re-saved as a high-quality JPEG so they come out upright and in the right colours. PNGs keep every detail, though a 16-bit PNG is stored at 8 bits per channel. WebP and BMP have to be decoded and re-saved as JPEG first, because that is the only way to get them into a PDF, so those two lose a little quality — convert them to PNG beforehand if that matters. Page size, orientation and margin for all of them come from the Image Pages panel.

Set Merge Mode to Range and type something like `1-3, 5, 8-10`. One important detail: it is a single range applied to every file in the queue, against each file's own page numbers — not a separate range per card. So `1-3` on three files takes the first three pages of all three. To take different pages from different files, use the Page Grid tab and delete the pages you do not want, which the merge now honours from either tab.

Form fields stay fillable in the merged file, with any values already entered. If the same form is merged twice, the second copy's fields are renamed, for example name_2, so each copy can be filled in separately. Annotations such as highlights and sticky notes come with their pages. The one exception is a target file size: pages it re-renders as images keep their fields only as part of the picture.

Yes. Add only photos and PDFixel builds a new PDF from them, one page per image, with no PDF needed as a starting point. JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP and BMP are all accepted, and the conversion happens in your browser so the photos are never uploaded.

Open the Image Pages panel to choose A4, US Letter, the size of the document the images are joining, or each image's own dimensions. Orientation can follow each photo automatically or be forced to portrait or landscape, and you can add a 6 mm or 13 mm margin for printing.
