Tools & Settings Reference
- Background Mode
- Transparent, solid colour, gradient, a blur of the original, or your own backdrop image.
- Shadow
- Adds a drop or ground shadow under the subject, with blur, opacity, offset and colour.
- Sticker Outline
- Draws a coloured border around the subject. Built from 16 offset copies, so very thick outlines look slightly faceted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Drop the image in and the AI separates the subject from the background automatically. Leave Background Mode on Transparent and download the PNG: the background pixels are fully transparent, so the cutout sits cleanly on any colour or slide. Keep Output Format on PNG or WebP, not JPG: JPG has no transparency, so the tool fills the empty area with white and tells you it did.
Good enough for most portrait and product work, and honest about where it stops. The model produces a soft alpha edge rather than a hard cut, so shoulders, clothing and clean silhouettes come out convincingly. Very fine detail is the limit: the mask is computed at up to about four megapixels and then scaled to your image, so individual flyaway hairs and animal fur are approximated rather than resolved strand by strand. For those cases the cutout is usually a good starting point to touch up rather than a finished result.
You are told, and you get a clearly-labelled fallback instead of a silent downgrade. The model and its WebAssembly runtime are fetched from a CDN the first time you use the tool; if that fetch fails, or the browser cannot run it, the tool switches to a much simpler method that estimates the background from the colours around the border of the image. That works on plain, evenly-lit backdrops and struggles with everything else, so the result carries a notice saying basic mode was used. Reloading the page and trying again usually gets the full model.
Yes. Switch the Background Fill mode to Solid Color and select pure white (`#FFFFFF`) to produce marketplace-compliant product listings.
